Create new turf area with our seeding or sod services. Seeding and sod are two different ways to achieve new turf. Each has their own pros and cons. You should be aware of these differences when deciding on which path is best for you and your landscape’s needs.
Sod installation offers immediate results. Upon completion you will have a beautiful, lush, green lawn. It will need to be watered until the new sod can build roots into the existing soil. For the first 4-6 weeks it will need extensive watering, and watered weekly, or twice a week for the first 3 months. While sod is great for quickly achieving a beautiful and lush lawn, There are a couple drawbacks for having immediate results. Sod is more likely to develop thatch than seeded grass., which means you’re lawn might need more aeration. Sod is also more susceptible to fungi, and other lawn pests.
While requiring more intensive work in the beginning, seeding tends to be less prone to lawn pests and fungi. Seeding takes between 2 and 3 months before beginning to look full, and about 2 years before it has the same thickness as a sodded lawn. during the germination period after seeding, the soil should be kept constantly moist. Any bare spots after the seeds start growing should be reseeded.
A new lawn, either seeded or sodded, can have a dramatic impact on the overall appearance and value of your property, but both will require maintenance and care to reach the desired results.
